Albany to Perth

G’day guys… it’s time for another update on what’s been happening in our world lately.

Since our last update we spent a couple of days in the Albany area while we waited for some mail from home to arrive. This included a night in Porongurup where we went for a 7km trek through the Porongurup National Park and conquered the very steep Devil’s Slide.

Devil's Slide

Once at the top we decided to make the descent a little more interesting… Skeat and Bennett were pretty confident that the quickest way down was not using the track up but instead climbing straight down the mountain over some of the massive rocks while Fussy and Matti thought the track up was the quickest way down. It was on! The terms were the losers cooked the winner’s lunch and had to do all the dishes for the day. After a half hour climb up we were all down in about 3 minutes with Skeat and Bennett being the winners! Good fun!

We also spent a night at nearby Denmark where we had a surf at Ocean Beach. While at Ocean Beach Skeat, Matti and Bennett spent a bit of time waiting for Fussy to come back from Albany with his mail so we continue West. We got fairly bored so got creative with some games to pass the time.

Actually the whole trip, the days have been broken up by small games which have included handball, kicking the footy, throwing games (at and into things) and especially chucking the Frisbee.

From Albany we headed for Pemberton where we did the tree-top walk, climbed the Gloucester Tree (pretty bloody scary), went trout fishing, and drove through some awesome scenery (karri forests).

From Pemberton we headed to Margaret River. We arrived in Margaret River on Saturday so decided to spend the weekend at the Margaret River Caravan Park where we spent most our time drinking and heading out to the local pub, The Settlers Tavern – an awesome pub!

After spending the weekend in the Margaret’s we headed about 15km south of Margaret River to a place called Conto’s which is where we spent the rest of the week as it was a lot cheaper than the caravan park. From here we checked out some of the sites of the area which included amazing beaches (Prev’s man), a few of the local wineries and breweries, a cave, a cheese factory and a chocolate factory. Here are a few photos of us checking out the sites around Marg’s.

From Conto’s we headed for Perth where we had free accommodation at Scarborough Beach in Perth with nice beds, a proper kitchen, a washing machine, walls, a roof and carpet (a nice change from the swags), after a chick we met at Bremer Bay a couple of weeks ago let us stay for the weekend… massive win! Thanks Kara, Jenna and housemates.

We arrived in Perth on Thursday so once settled into our new ‘home’ we got on the beers and goon and headed out to the local, ‘The Indi’. A massive night! While also in Perth we got a tour from the girls of some sites which included visiting Cottesloe and Scarborough beaches, visiting The Little Creatures Brewery (which was awesome as we almost made money while there because we managed to score two plates of nacho’s worth around $40), and watching the Redbull Air Race. Here are a few photos from our time in Perth.
